2016 Indiana CASA Progress Report
Indiana continues to strengthen its network of programs and increase the number of volunteers serving child victims each year. Even so, there remain thousands of children without a voice in the court cases of which they are the subject. We are proud of our progress and are more committed than ever to accelerating it. Here are facts from our 2016 Indiana CASA Progress Report:
4,034 GAL/CASA volunteers advocated for 26,762 children involved in abuse/neglect cases in Indiana’s courts in 78 of our 92 counties.
These volunteers contributed 348,213 hours of their time to advocate for abused and neglected children and made 295,888 contacts with these children.
Volunteers donated an estimated $31 million in services by giving of their time and themselves advocating for our most vulnerable children.
1,225 new volunteers were trained in 2016; however, at the end of 2016 there were still 6 children still waiting for a volunteer who will speak up on their behalf.
